Day 143: Guess who fell asleep on the floor?
Very sleepy. Today I made crab wontons and nachos, did three loads on laundry, cleaned my room, charged my camera batteries, finished up more earrings for Otakon, did my nightly workout and eventually fell asleep on the floor.
I rushed tonight's drawing because I am very tired and I'm looking forward to sleeping in my real-person bed and not on the floor.

Day 135: Skully-Skulls
Doodled a few skulls with my Sharpie pen. It's been my go-to drawing tool for a while. I love it so much! One of these skulls may or may not be One-eye'd Willy.

Day 129: Ugggg
Another lazy one. I'm having such a hard time creating lately... tomorrow. Tomorrow I am really sitting down and getting something done!

Day 125: Attempt Number...I don't know...Maybe 12?
Remember that Black Lady doodle I started forever ago and was going to redo digitally? Well I have started and scrapped that project a insane number of times. I revisited it today, and I kind of like where I'm going with it. I still need to put her hands back in and do a lot more stuff to it, but I think this line-art that I have down so far will stay....but we'll see.

Day 121: Guess who still sucks at hands?
I totally gave up on the hands. Seriously, they are so bad I cropped the other out. I gotta get back to practicing. I'm happy the face looks lightly smooshed due to the placement of the hands though. Bah! Back to drawing hands for a while until I get better again. I've been doing too many lazy busts.

Day 116: Chibi Usa Revisited
I decided to revisit my doodle from DAY 12, and attempt a finished digital piece. It's flat coloring and blocky cell-like shading with some gradients on top. Lazy gradients are lazy..., but I'm pretty happy with it. I might add some textures later, but for now this is as close to done as it's getting tonight.
The flat color version is under the cut.
Day 115: Obsessed
A sharpie pen sketchbook doodle inspired by THIS photo. I am just obsessed with it right now. Anyway, I tweaked the blog layout a bit to make it look a little nicer, and I changed the font I was using for my website on my doodles. Not sure how I feel about the change, but I am dead tired. It was a very very long night and I need to get some sleep.

Day 114: WIP
I was thinking about what I am planning on doing with my hair, so I googled hair styles and saw THIS photo and I just loved it. She has such gorgeous hair! Mine will never be that long, but I really wanted to draw her, so I started this. I am oddly obsessed with this photo right now, so I might work on this digital painting for a bit and do a sketchbook drawing of her as well since my styles on both mediums are so completely different. It's nearly 5 AM and I better get to bed, so it'll just be a WIP for tonight.

Day 113: Don't worry sketchbook, I still love you.
A 3 minute sharpie pen sketch in my sketchbook for tonight. It's late and I'm really sleepy, and I knew I could whip out something really fast, but I'm also not giving up on traditional sketchbook stuff. Sure, I love my new tablet, but I still love sketching with a physical pen on paper too. And my styles on both are so different! It's so weird, but fun.

Day 112: Truly Outrangeous & Beautifully Bold!
A little doodle inspired by one of my favorite 80's cartoons, Jem! I'm having a lot of fun experimenting with different styles, but I still need a lot of work. I'm not really creating any fleshed out pieces. Anyway, the Misfits songs really are better and I'm gonna go get my butt into bed.
Day 111: So much pain for a small-ish injury
![]() |
| I drew my left hand since I draw right handed. |
So today was just one of those days. I left my car windows partially down overnight during a storm, I fell down the basement steps carrying laundry, and to top things off, I sliced my right pointer finger open right at the tip near my nail.
My CPU fan has been really noisy, so I shut down and tried to clean it out and see what was going on, but my computer set up is really compacted. I must have hit the power button on my keyboard with something when I was shifting things around and my PC turned on, fan turned on, and bye bye finger tip.
Not to be graphic, but the very tip of my finger was pretty much sliced off by the fan blades, but not completely. Kind of like a flip-cap on a tube of toothpaste. I didn't even know it cut me at first, it hurt, but I re-shut down and went back to tinkering when I saw blood flowing down my arm. Oh well. I flipped the skin back, applied pressure, cleaned it, and now I have the world clunkiest bandage for such a tiny injury because it's in such a weird location and I have long nails. It's really sore and it stings, but I'm right handed, and I need to type. Hopefully it'll heal up quickly.

Day 110: I LOVE LAMP - Light Study
I have discovered that I really really like digital painting with this tablet. I want to do some different studies with lighting, so I used a spot in my room for reference and whipped this one up tonight. All of these 365 drawings are done in 30 min or less, and with all things considered, I'm really happy with these digital paintings so far, and I'm excited to see how I'll progress with them over the next 200 days or so.
Hopefully I'll have to to sit down and do a more complex one and create a better finished piece, but for now it's 3:13AM and I need to get my butt to bed.

Day 109: Things I wish I were doing right now
No fancy explanation. I wanted to play with colors, and I wanted to sleep. lol

Day 108: Let there be LIPS
More semi-realistic and rendering practice. This time I practiced lips to get a better sense of how to draw them, and I'm pretty happy with it.

Day 107: I like the eyes...everything else? Needs practice.
Know what I'm not good at? Rendering, and not using outlines. Tried to attempt both tonight, but I don't think it worked out all that well. Actually, the more I look at it, I think it's the mouth I don't like. I should try drawing a semi-realistic mouth next.

Day 106: This Dress is....OUTTATHISWORLD
I'm just full of lame titles this week. I was inspired by THIS dress I saw on tumblr. I really love fashion drawings, but I just can't do them, at least not yet. I get way too detailed on the model and not as into the clothing itself. Plus, I wear jeans and a sweatshirt pretty much every day of my life. In summer it changes to a tank top. I wish I tried harder with my appearance, but I'm kind of in a funk, and have been for quite a while, I just want to feel comfy and safe, so jeans and a baggy blanket-like sweatshirt it is.

Day 105: Eye Have Been Practicing
I think this is my first attempt at any kind of pseudo-realism in this challenge so far. I'm pretty happy with it, although it's far from hyper-realism, but that's not really my style anyway. I am also attempting to do something without outlines, but even this has them. It's such a hard habit to break!
The smaller this is, the better it looks.

Day 103: More tablet testing doodles.
I'm still so clumsy and bulky with my pen drawings and motions. I'm trying to do more of these little sketches to get used to it. Not seeing where you're actually drawings is such a weird concept, which is why I kept contemplating dropping a ton of money on a Cintiq, but I came to the conclusion that I should crawl before I walk, so we'll keep with this tablet for now and see if I can really get my money's worth out of it.

Day 102: Messing Around with random Colors
I just started playing around with this idea of Daft Punk-esque colors, like from Interstella 5555, and this is what become of it. I should play with some crazy colors again tomorrow and create a more finished piece. For now, it's 2AM and I'm going to try going to bed early for once.
Day 101: Getting the hang of things
I worked a bit more on my Black Lady line-art, but it's not all that different from my last post, since I basically chose to redo everything. In the meantime, here's a warm up bust.
