Day 30: Hands-on Practice
Just a quick and simple one tonight, I see minor improvements so far. Sorry for the short post, but its 4:30 in the morning and I still have etsy orders to pack up and ship.

Day 29: These Tips Were Made For Walkin'
I think I like doing these weirdly colored hands. This was another one I used a reference photo for. I started out by drawing it in pencil, then slapped some more colors on in photoshop. No filters this time, so the colors are just as I left them.

Day 28: Sticky Fingers
More hands! This time I used THIS photo for reference and I played with colors and filters in Photoshop. I like the bizarre color combination. I have to play with colors more often. Also, I'm running out of stupid hand related titles for my blog posts! Oh no! This is getting out of...hand? (I'm hilarious at 3AM.)

Day 27: Let's give her a hand!
Felt like doing a person and hands, so I did a quick 20 min drawing based on this stock image. Then I slapped some colors on in photoshop, I don't know why hands boggle me so much, I draw them so HUGE! Gotta work on that. The hands and anatomy are so wrong! UGH! Gotta keep practicing.
Day 26: Talk to the HAND. (I already know I am going to run out of stupid hand titles.)
More hands! I really like the disembodied one in the center. Gotta keep practicing! After hands I want to try and do a few more figures and sketches of women. After a while I might challenge myself with drawing men. I have never gotten used to drawing men, I always make them look like women.

Day 25: Gettin' Handsy
I'm going to try and practice hands a bit this week to brush up my anatomy skills. Here are some really quick hand sketches from tonight, I'm going to try and do more this week, and incorporate hands into my drawings more.

New stickers on the way! (OMG a non-365 post?)
I've been so busy lately! I'm trying to expand what I currently offer in my shops and conventions, while also sticking to my daily workout routine, keeping up with my draw365 challenge, doing small commission work, AND working my 9-5 job. (All while running a food blog that updates daily.) I am losing my mind, but I kind of like it?
Maybe I finally snapped, but it's a fun little challenge for myself, like, let's see if I can survive this schedule for a year, and if I do, will it make a difference in my life?
Anyway, on a less personal-journey note, I finished up my 2nd Sailor Moon Mini Sticker Sheet. The photo above isn't the finished layout, but I wanted to share it anyway. I'll post a few more photos and progress shots under the cut.
Day 24: I need to practice hands...
My anatomy and hands are so bad. I should practice hands all this week. I haven't drawn figures in ages, I've been cheating and doing busts, but I gotta get back in shape!

Day 23: Cat Doodle Dump
Had a bit of doodlers block, so I just drew whatever I felt like. Turned out to be a girl with glasses and some cats. I never tried to draw Grumpy Cat before, but it was fun to try.

Day 22: Stuff I need to do more of...SLEEP
I need to sleep more. This is kind of how I sleep, with ah and under the pillow supporting my head, but I toss and turn all night long. Whatever position I'm in when I finally fall asleep is never the one I wake up in.
Day 21: Figure
It's almost 4AM...again. I really need to get my life together, but I feel so much more alive and awake late at night than during the day. Anyway, this is just a quick figure sketch tonight, I am trying to brush up on my anatomy and quick figure sketches. It's been...5 years since my last figure drawing class. Oh man, has it really been that long?
I might go back tomorrow and add in detail, but I am trying to get better at posing characters and understanding anatomy. This site is a HUGE help.

Day 20: Budding Musician (Get it?)
I know it's kind of in-style to draw big bulky DJ headphones, like Vocaloids, but I hate having things on my ears. I still use my itty bitty ear buds, so I doodled a quick girl wearing them tonight. (Although only the right one of mine works. I ought to get a new pair.)
I feel like I was more in touch with music and into music when I was younger, now? I'm lucky if I can even remember the lyrics to a song I like. Remembering lyrics used to be so important to me when I was younger, but I guess it was because I used to passively aggressively quote them for myspace statuses and stuff back then. (Ouch, my age.) Now I'm like the lame mom who just sings along with the choruses in the car because I have no idea what these artists are saying. I should try to get back into listening to music. I feel like I'm missing out on a part of the world.
Day 19: JJ Go Team Venture!
I am STILL geeking out over the Venture Brothers special...just...GAH! So much to process. Doc and Jackson are just brilliant, and I love this show. No spoilers. Just drew J.J. in pencil, went over that with a black Stabilo pen, and then slapped some quick colors on in Photoshop.
Watch the Space Special! It's amazing. I couldn't be happier. I've been battling depression for a couple of months now, and to be honest, this special has made me the happiest I've been in quite a while. Silly, to be so happy about a cartoon, but it's just...wonderful, and I love it. GO TEAM VENTURE!

Day 18: NSFW
Since I've been doing quick sketched I thought I should do something a bit more involved tonight. Sorry it's NSFW, I haven't draw anything nude since figure drawing in college. I'm trying to be a bit more serious and get out of my comfort zone.
Day 17: Rose Quartz
Took a break from the pencil and black ink and decided to play with some colored pens tonight without any pencil sketching. Been watching Steven Universe lately and I am in love with Rose Quartz's hair. Again, it's 4AM this time, and I should totally be in bed, but at least I got a lot done today. I made homemade soup (broccoli cheddar), recoded our next Candology101 podcast with Cybele from Canyd blog, made pizza dough and bakes up two veggie pizzas, and did three loads on laundry. PLUS I'm still doing my 30 day challenge workouts.
I'm always so busy! At least I can go to bed now.

Day 16: Madoka Doodles
More super quick doodle sketches because it's 3AM and I am insane. I need to get more sleep during the work week. I feel like death, but at least tonight was a rest night for my exercises.

Day 15: You're not my supervisor!
Just a quick one with some slapped on color before bed. I have to get my life together, I stay up WAY too late on work nights doing all this.

Day 14: Namesake & New Sticker Designs
So I watched the first episode of that magical boy anime that came out,
Other than my daily doodles I've been quite busy doing a LOT of stuff. I figure I'll put that under the CUT, it's a lot of digital art.
Day 13: Doodle Dump
Wasn't feeling any of my starter sketched tonight, so you get a mini doodle-dump. The doofy little generic dog is kind of growing on me...

Day 12: Small Lady

Day 11: Big Floppy Hat
Fruit Tartlette Earrings: Now on Etsy & StorEnvy
I've been trying to list more items in my online shops, so there itty bitty tartlette earrings are now for sale in my Etsy and Storenvy shops!

Day 10 Doodles
A few different sketches from tonight, I wasn't really feeling any of them in particular, so no ink tonight, just pencil.
Saturday, January 10, 2015
Day 9: Sabrina
Been watching Sabrina The Teenage Witch and I loved her first dress in her opening sequence. (The taupe one with the sparkles and sheer sleeves.) Not my best drawing, but it was a lot of fun to watch her and doodle.

Day 8: Simple and Sweet
Just a random marker\pen sketch tonight. I was feeling kind of down, so I wanted to draw something simple, sweet, and happy. Then I threw some random colors on it. No real rhyme or reason, I just felt like coloring.
These aren't my official colors for this piece, I might recolor it in the near future with actual markers, that is, if my Prismacolors still work.

Day 7: Lis
Pencil and Micron Markers and THIS reference photo |
I'm not too happy with this one, but I had to draw something for today. She's my attempt at Lis from Seconds. A friend bought it for my birthday and I finally got around to reading it. I feel like I didn't make her look wild enough.
I like that pose, I might try working with it tomorrow when I have a bit more time and energy.

Day 6: Jackal-Berry-Pom-Pom
.005 Micron and Mechanical Pencil |
For day 6 I drew a quick bust-style sketch of my dog, Jack Jack! He's a Pomeranian, although he's way bigger than typical Poms, and it's hard to tell, but this sketch is super tiny. Maybe at the end of this week I'll post a scan of the whole sketchbook page to give you a better idea of size. (I'm currently doing crappy cellphone pics for these posts because they are so quick and easy to put up.)

Day 5: Eekum Bokum
Couldn't resist. I threw some colors onto it in Photoshop |
Original mechanical pencil drawing |

Day 4: Space for Rent
Mechanical Pencil, various Micron Pens and THIS REFERENCE PHOTO |
This one is going to be a WIP, since I like where it's going and I don't want to rush it. The "Space for Rent" thing on the shirt is actually based off a stencil I made in High School (out of duct tape) and "screened" onto shirts back then. I didn't know any better at the time, so I was making them with acrylic paint, and all the lettering was super stiff.
Still, it was cool, and now that I am over a decade older and know better, I'd still like to try and make a shirt for real for myself. It's silly, and stupid, but I like it.

Day 3: Quickie Blob-hair Girl
XS Faber-Castell |
I felt like drawing something kind of melty and blob-like, so here's a girl with blob hair. No real explanation as to why, but I like her blob-tails. You can also see a hint of the pizza I mentioned during day 2 at the top.

Day 2: Art 365 Sweet Lolita
Mechanical Pencil & XS Faber-Castell |
I like doodling small, which is fun, but it stinks for making prints. Maybe I'll take this into Adobe Illustrator and make a vector of it so I can do something with it. I'd like to make some Cameo-style lolitas and add them to my cupcake and food themed pouches.

Day 1: Art 365 Black Lady
Pencil & Faber-Castells. Color added in photoshop. |
So I have been playing around with this idea in my head to do a 365 art challenge. I don't know if I'll keep up with it, we all know how Inctober went, but I'd like to try. It might vary from a doodle to a finished piece to a WIP, but I'd like to try and make something every single day this year and post about it. Today I have a drawing of Black Lady.
I am SOOOO rusty at inking, and I haven't done traditional art in forever. Let's hope this will help me out. I gotta get better and I need to start producing things quicker.
